What is DBO?
DBO is a tool for builders to accurately and consistently rate the performance of buildings, components and services using various environmental factors. It allows for real time delivery of information and data to save time and money for all stakeholders by assessing the lifetime performance and energy efficiency of their investments.
Why DBO?
At DBO, we believe there needs to be a shift in the narrative from “Buildings-as-an-Assets” to “Buildings-as-a-Service”
There exists a large disconnect between the Design, Build and Operation functions of buildings in our society. This “siloing” of functions prevents optimal building performance.
DBO breaks down these silos and offers transparent, real-time delivery of information and data to save time and money for all stakeholders

The DBO "Tag"
The DBO “Tag” is a comprehensive dynamic performance assessment score based on four elements from design through construction and operations: Efficiency, Health, Sourcing and Functionality
The DBO Tag takes each function into account :
- Design: Every material, technique and component option clearly scored
- Build: Every firm, product, and contractor option clearly scored
- Operate: Every building monitored and scored throughout life
